Highland Brewery
Clarens, Free State, South Africa
Highland Brewery recently moved to the farm Clifton, 4km outside the town of Clarens, Free State in South Africa.
The original brew master and owner of the brewery’s former home, the nearby Joubertsvlei farm, was a passionate Clarnens native, and stayed true to form when in 2013 he starting brewing beer to showcase the fresh mountain spring water running through the farm.
In 2018, when they closed shop, the new owners jumped at the opportunity to take the reins. Although the brewery moved to Clifton Farm, the exact same spring runs through it too, and thus the original recipes remain unchanged.
A tap room is in the works on the Clifton farm, to provide a spot for families to enjoy a day out in the fresh farm air, surrounded by stunning sandstone scenery and a fresh beer in hand.
